Not unusual.: As the wisdom tooth cuts through the gum it causes inflammation. The inflammation can cause a sore throat if it is severe enough. Once the tooth is all the way through the gum, it should get better. Warm salt water rinses (8 ounces warm water w/ 1/2 teaspoon of salt) and over-the-counter pain meds can help. Sometimes an antibiotic can help. See your dentist if it doesn't improve.
