My sister has been unable to eat anything for 4 months. dry heaves and nausea, no sleep. her pcp referred her to a gastroenterologist. so far all results negative. testing now for celiac. suggestions?

Love to help, but...: I appreciate your concern for your sister, and it certainly sounds like she has been in distress for some time. Unfortunately, you have provided too little historical information and no clinical data on which to base an educated suggestion as to her next step. Encourage her to follow-up with her current gastroenterologist who already knows her best.

Complex problem: I have seen patients like this in my practice. They often will end up with diagnosis of "cyclic vomiting syndrome". I have found that they often have excess parasympathetic(pns)stimulation leading to their symptoms. The real key to helping these pts is uncovering what triggers are causing the pns problem in the 1st place. She invariably has some combo of hormonal, immune & nervous system imbalance.
