Cyst or lymph node: If you have recently had an infection in the head or neck area, it could cause a swollen lymph node ( which might be tender). Also, a sebaceous cyst is fairly common in this area. If it does not resolve, it should be checked by your primary care doctor.

Skin lump: Usually possibilities include a cyst, a lymph node, or a lipoma. However there are many other rarer possibilities. It is prudent to ask your doctor to evaluate the lesion. You should go promptly if the lesion is growing or changing.
