Metformin: The use of metformin is controversial in pcos. It appears that metformin is most helpful in obese pcos women or those with Insulin resistance. I do not routinely start my patients unless they meet these criteria. Target dose if used should be 1500 mg daily. You should consult with your doctor to make sure you have no contraindications. Side effects do increase with increasing dose of metformin.
