A member asked:

I'm just wondering, if you always have good normal, low blood pressure, are you likely absent of heart disease?

Not necessarily: Hypertension is just one of the risk factors for heart disease. If you have a normal blood pressure but weigh 300 pounds, smoke two packs per day, have diabetes, have a high cholesterol, and are a couch potato, the normal blood pressure will probably not be very protective.

No: Blood pressure is just one of the risk factors for heart disease. Having normal blood pressure is a positive thing for you. Just don't be falsely reassured if you have any other signs of heart disease.

Perhaps: But there are several things that go into heart disease. Smoking, diabetes, family history, chronic inflammation to name a few. Blood pressure is just one of many risk factors.
