I developed a seroma five months after lap. ventral hernia surgery, how long can it take for the seroma to go away on its own?

SHOULD BE SHRINKING: Seromas and hematomas can develop in the abdominal wall space that the tissue which protrudes through the hernia defect creates. The serum or blood should slowly regress with time, but should probably be gone within 6 months. If a persistent collection is troublesome, it may have to be removed. Speak to your surgeon. Good luck.

Months: It usually takes at least a few months for a seroma to resolve. Using an abdominal binder to place pressure on the abdomen will help the seroma to resolve quicker.
