Lack of blood flow: Ischaemia (or ischemia) refers to the state of a lack of adequate oxygen to a tissue, or an imbalance between supply and demand; since blood carries oxygen to tissues, ischaemia occurs when blood flow is limited by a narrowed artery, or a muscle is exercised beyond the capacity of its blood vessels to supply blood flow. It merits an evaluation to determine its cause and therapy.
