Vertigo: If the sensation is that of "spinning" and not lightheadedness, it suggests vertigo which is usually attributed to an inner ear abnormality involving the cochlea, a fluid-filled structure which plays an important roll in maintaining ones sense of balance. When tiny grains floating in the fluid get caught on tiny sensors (cilia), one experiences severe vertigo. She should see an ear specialist.
