Likely unrelated: Peeling gums is probably tissue sloughing. The surface layer of skin may slough like this if a harsh irritant comes into skin contact (e.g. Hydrogen peroxide, undiluted) or even some strong flavoring agents (cinnamon). Reviewing what you have had in your mouth just before this happened may be helpful. The sore throat and chest will warrant an evaluation by a physician if it persists.
