What's your normal?: "normal" bowel frequency in america ranges from 3 stools daily to one every 3 to 4 days. Many patients have some variability. If your normal is every 4 days, then no worries. If your norm is 4x/day, then maybe you have cause for concern. Lots of things alter how fast your GI tract empties--obstruction, dysmotilities, infection, malabsorption/maldigestion, metabolic issues, irritable bowel, more.
