Dehydrated or UTI: Foods (asparagus) can do it. If you get dehydrated, your body concentrates your urine to preserve water. This can make it smell strong. Drinking more water will reverse it. A urinary tract infection (UTI) can also change the odor. You may also have burning or pain, frequent urges, fever, or back pain with a uti. If drinking more doesn't help and you have any of these symptoms, get urine checked.
