Does vicodin pose any risk to the heart when taken in low doses over a long period of time (approx 1-2 5/500 tablets per week for 3-4 years)?

Not likely: These medications are not know to affect the heart directly. You are not taking high doses or high frequencies that would put you at risk for organ injury. Routine check-up with your pcp is the best way to watch for unwanted effects on the organ systems.
