Helps to check: Checking the cervical length give an approximation of how likely you are to still carry the pregnancy and not get close to delivery. If the cervix length is 3cm or more, there is less likely a premature delivery. But this is only a guide. If you start having strong contractions this could change quickly. Also some women go the whole pregnancy with a cervical length of 2cm.
