A member asked:

I have a severe sore throat i've been to the dr and rap strep came back neg could i have an oral std dr said my throat was red and raw dr would know?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not STD: There are many many viral, and some bacterial causes of a severe sore throat that are step negative. Std's are a rare cause. However, if you have reason to believe that you could have been exposed especially to chlamydia or gonorrhea, let your treating doctor know asap, because antibiotics do cure those problems.
