Any surgery has risk: Chances are if you need uc surgery it is because of: poor response to medical therapy, acute decompensation, and/or risk for cancer. Normal kidney, lung, heart, liver function then the risks are well worth taking. If surgery is for rx of life-threatening problems, then you have little choice. Talk w/gi md, surgeon, at length.
