Lighten the load: Veins naturally distend when you strenuously exert yourself. If you lift lighter weights perhaps with more repetition this may be prevented.

Lift less: Dr. Wright is right (if you'll pardon the pun), there is nothing you can do except lift smaller weights and/or do some other form of exercise.
