Gout gives pain!: The main symptom of gout is pain. Really, really bad pain. Tends to show up first in the big toe, then can spread to other joints in subsequent bouts. It is treatable, but without treatment the repeated bouts of inflammation can lead to more permanent joint damage - gouty arthritis.
