X-ray: You will need and x-ray to see if you have a fracture or if it is just a sprain. Have it evaluated by your physician to get the appropriate treatment.

X-ray: A break and a fracture are exactly the same thing - a broken bone. A sprain refers to a ligamentous injury. In the vast majority of cases an x-ray will be adequate to determine if an ankle fracture is present.
