What is the difference between clinical dental hygienists and public dental hygienists?

Nothing: The diference is a matter of semantics only - like calling someone either a doctor or a physicain.

Location of practice: All dental hygienist are trained the same. Public health dental hygienists usually work in a clinic or health center funding with medicaid dollars. In some states they are permitted to work unsupervised by a dentist.
