Signs of Infection: Swelling and pain are both signs of infection. Is there also any redness or increase in temperature? There may also be inflammation. You can take nsaid's (non steroidal antiinflammatories) and use a cold compress, but you need to be seen by a dentist to see if you need antibiotics and what treatment needs to be done to fix the problem.

Pain: Pain and swelling in teeth is a sign of infection either in a tooth or in gums around the tooth. The best remedy is to go see a dentist who can treat your problem. If you cannot see a dentist soon then a pain medication like Ibuprofen can help you. A natural remedy is to apply clove oil until you can go see the dentist. Make sure you don't have any allergies to any of the mentioned drugs
