What are some cold medicine alternatives for my baby?

Saline & humidifier: Saline nasal spray is very beneficial to treat a cold in a baby. It is very safe as it is made of salt water. A cool mist humidifier with water is also a great natural decongestant and really helps thin the mucousy coughs. Unfortunately, cold medications are not recommended for babies as they may cause dangerous side effects (and most do not work very well for them anyway!).

Cool mist vaporizer: Cold medications should not be used in babies or children. They are not effective and babies and children are often overdosed on them. Use a cool mist vaporizer, saline nose drops and suctioning the nose with a suction bulb made for babies.
