Can you tell me how the drug thalidomide affect babies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Limb loss: Thalidomide was originally marketed in britain as a nausea drug during pregnancy. It later became evident that about 30% of women who used it during the 4-7 wk (when arms & legs were forming) gave birth to infants with defects. These ranged from absence of one or more limbs to malformation of the limbs that formed.
