A member asked:

After the 6th or 7th week of pregnancy does the fetus double in size, causing the gestational age to be off?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Early pregnancy: The rate of growth of the fetus in the first trimester is very rapid. An ultrasound in the first trimester has only a 3-6 day error while later in pregnancy that error grows to 3 weeks. The gestational age is more accurate in early pregnancy and less likely to be off in the first trimester.
