See your Peds doc!: There are some congenital abnormalities that are related to premature closure of the cranial sutures (craniosynostosis). In layman terms- areas of the head that can close early resulting in skull deformities. Some need to be fixed by surgery. There are some that are clearly positional- with modifying sleep habits or using a helmet- these deformities can be solved. Some are completely normal.
