Total hip: Check with orthopedic surgeon. Check x-ray position for any loosening or impingement. It may be spine(not hip) related.

See your doc soon: Pain in the buttocks can be a symptom of inflammation or damage to a part of your hip (such as the sacroiliac joints).Inflammation can be due to infection which will always be a risk with artificial body parts (hip).It may also be from muscle soreness with increased activity on muscles that are out of shape due to less use of them before surgery. In either case, don't delay seeing your orthd doc.

See a back doctor: Buttock pain is usually due to nerve compression in the spine, assuming that you don't have a large blood collection back there.
