Cancer begins: In one organ, but kills by traveling to others and detroying function. Colon cancer travels, either by blood or lymphatics, to the lover, bones, lungs and brain.

Not a blood borne : I think most likely your friend missunderstood about " blood borne". Colon cancer is not a blood borne disease. It is not infection. Probably she meant that the disease has spread beyond the colon to other organ through her lymphatic system or blood.
