What does it mean when a teenage girl begins to cut herself?

Cry for help: Cutting is often a cry for help. The child may not know how to ask for it, so if you notice this behavior take them in for an evaluation. A trained child psychiatrist may be helpful.

Agree: Dr webb is correct. Cutting is a behavior signifying underlying emotional pain and the inability to express it. It is not a phase and she needs help...Seek help with someone who has experience with this problem. To write love on her arms is an organization that may be able to help with resources.
