Unlikely, but...: The ANA is a very sensitive test, so it tends to have too many false positives, rather than false negatives. Textbooks talk about lupus with negative ANA results, but i suspect this is only a tiny percentage of lupus patients. Sometimes other labs or procedures can be helpful. Speak to your doctor.
