Nasal cycle: About every 3 hours, the "active", functioning side of the nose switches. When this happens the turbinates (shelves in the nose) or the "muscle" you noticed, swell and the space in the nose temporarily gets smaller. If the changes you are noticing cause you pain, discomfort, bleeding, or difficulty breathing, see your doctor or ENT specialist.
