Bad Idea: It's a bad idea to take Ritalin (methylphenidate) if you have bipolar disorder. It can make you manic. Stimulant medications like Ritalin (methylphenidate) should be avoided in bipolar disorder. They make it worse. The best treatments for bipolar disorder are mood stabilizers. For my patients, i try and also avoid antidepressants if they have bipolar disorder. I'd see a board certified psychiatrist for the most effective treatment.

Bipolar: Ritalin (methylphenidate) is not contraindicated as long as moods are stabilized with medications. Again, please review with your doctor.
