Before pregnancy, ok: You can use Atarax (hydroxyzine) before pregnancy, but it is a category c in pregnancy. This means some teratogenic effects have been noted in animals, but there are either no studies or inconclusive studies in humans. Talk with your doctor about this in your case. There are non-pharmaceutical ways to help anxiety also. Like psychotherapy, meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, guided imagery, etc.

Atarax (hydroxyzine) is ok but: You can take Atarax if you are scheduled for ivf in ten days.Half life of atarax(hydroxyzine) is 3 hours, so it gets eliminated from the body very quickly, you can stop it 3 days prior to ivf. But having said that Atarax is not a good drug for anxiety discuss with your doctor.
