On daily preventative med for hemiplegic migraines (topiramate 75mg) & imitrex (sumatriptan) (100mg) if needed, as a rescue med...is it safe to take these?

Safe, but ?risk: To better prevent your migraines, topirimate best taken every 12 hrs, 50-75 mg bid should cover the full 24 hrs. Potential rare side effects include hand tingling, memory and speech problems, metabolic acidosis, narrow-angle glaucoma, drowsiness, and kidney stones. Imitrex (sumatriptan) should be taken within the first 90 min of the headache to be useful, rare heart and brain problems if dose too high.

Yes: Hemiplegic migraines are difficult to control, but topamax (topiramate) and Imitrex as needed can help. One of the side effects of topamax (topiramate) that i dont like is it may give you an aphasia or make you have difficulty with word comprehension/word finding ability. In another words, it can make you look dumb. It also curbs your appetite. Imitrex usually gives a hot flash, but works well if taken early.
