If a tsh of 1-2 is optimal than why do doctors not prescribe medicines until the tsh is over 4.5?

Disagreement: Doctors often disagree on how best to do things. Some may not be as up to date as others. Research is constantly updating our information, and it can be difficult to know everything. I certainly would check a full thyroid panel in anyone with a TSH above 2.
