Allergy: You may be having an allergic reaction to one of your pain medications, most likely the codeine. Call your doctor to give you an alternative medication for pain control. Alternatively, you can consider taking tylenol (acetaminophen) only for pain and take an over the counter dose of Benadryl for the redness and itching. If you have tongue or face swelling or shortness of breath, the allergy is an emergency.

Elbow sugery: Are you wearing a sling? This could be irritating your skin. Any new medications may be contributing as well.
