Weaning off very gradually can be helpful to you in this way. However, in some people Diphenhydramine can also interfere with memory and cognitive function because of its anticholinergic features.

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): 25 mg. Is low dose, if it is helping u, but u need to gradually wean yourself off of it in the next few weeks, and follow up with your doctor meanwhile.
