Second opinion: Take your mom to a sleep specialist to get a second opinion...It's relatively uncommon to treat sleep problems with Phenobarbital these days. So when that happens, the important question is - why is this person having such difficulty with sleep that the doctor has to resort to phenobarbital? A sleep specialist is usually in the best position to answer that.
