Depends: Which valve? What age?Define elderly. To repair a heart valve, obviously, need cardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegic arrest. Sometimes the tricuspid valve can be repaired without cardioplegic arrest. To replace a heart valve, cpb/cardioplegic arrest normally used. In selected high morbidity/mortality candidates over 80y/o, transapical or transiliac or transfemoral aortic stent valves option.
