Wounds heal: No, that is not true. Some wounds become chronic. Some wounds worsen in patients who are failing and these also never heal; for example, pressure wounds in the lower back in ill patients.

No: If the wound becomes infected, the infection could spread to bone and could lead to loss of limb or even life if not taken care of promptly and effectively. Have the wound evaluated and treated to avoid preventable complications. Time alone will not heal a wound.

Not true: It depends on how deep the wound is. If the wound is very close to the surface, usually keeping the area clean and dry will heal the wound. Deeper wounds have a higher likelihood of getting infected and need specialized wound products and care to help with the healing process. You should visit a physician or wound care center to be evaluated.

We wish: The body's systems are directed to attempt to "heal" all ailments. Thus that would happen and we would be immortal if things didn't interfere such as aging, poor nutrition, paralysis preventing weight shifting off pressure wounds, circulation too seriously impaired to bring oxygen and nutrients, diseases like diabetes slowing healing. Drugs like corticosteroids interfering with healing......Etc.

No: Some wounds will get worse even with good care when the body and overall health is declining

Time: Not only is it not true for physical wounds, it is not necessarily true for emotional wounds. Time can take the edge off past emotional traumas, however, it is not a universal truth. Some people perseverate on past wrongs done to them, and actually enhance the pain associated with them over time.
