No real risks: Except infection which is minimal. The real problem is that in healing after surgery, skin tags can reform, they are usually smaller but your bottom will probably never look like a baby's bottom. Additionally, insurance may consider it cosmetic and therefore would not cover the surgery. I frankly discourage patient s from having the tags removed. If hygeine is due to pasty smeary stools, removing.

Pain: Removal of external hemorrhoid skin tags are simple and safe, but this is a very sensitive area, and the pain can be significant. The benefits are small, however, since these tags are usually harmless.
