Progressive : Disorder of "misfolded" proteins, where amyloid plaques deposit in neuropil, btwn nerve cell bodies and interfere with brain connections, and neurofibrillary tangles with nerve cells destroy directly. Neurotransmitter chemistry alters dramatically, again disrupting brain fnctn. All of this produces memory loss, poor organizational skills, altered behavior, and loss of daily competence.
