Mouthguard: I do not think any household items will be able to remain in postion at night. If you are looking for an inexpensive option, go to a sporting goods store and get a athletic mouthpiece. There are various sizes and can be fitted to feel comfortable. These can be helpful though do not fit, protect, or last like the occlusal guards made by your dentist.

No: A bruxism guard is a custom fabricated appliance made by your dentist to fit only your mouth. It is fabricated to treat TMJ problems and prevent damage to your teeth, which can cost thousands of dollars to repair. Have a professional fabricate the proper appliance for you.

Please no: A generic sports mouth guard or any of the OTC night guards sold in drug stores can do significantly more harm than good, and repairing damage is infinitely more expensive than proper professional treatment. Please ask your Dentist for help. You may need to see an Oral Surgeon, Orthodontist, and/or Prosthdontist.
