How to clean desiten off the skin ? my elderly client is having a sores in her between legs & i put desiten but its hard to remove it from the skin.

Wash with water!: Desetin or zinc oxide is kind of sticky and is hard to remove, even though it is a good barrier cream. Washing with water and soap will get rid of it. I advise patients to choose petroleum jelly in its place. In your case, the sores between legs could be fungal infection, which may need medical attention. Please have the patient checked by the doctor as prescription medications may be needed.

Gentle, gentle: Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) is made to protect intact skin, not for open sores. It is not a cure-all and so someone needs to figure out why the sores are there. Is it a fungus, from friction, urine or feces irritation...? Too aggressive cleaning will cause sores. Use gentle soap and water and if you still have prolems, find a different cream.
