It is a difficult time for the girl who is now a unready mother and a difficult environment for a baby to grow in. Not all teenage pregnancies tend to have a negative outcome. However, given the absence of a social, financial structure confounded by the absence of the father, it is a challenging time.

Raising a child: Takes maturity & emotional, social, & financial resources. Most teens don't have those, so teen pregnancy is usually a bad idea. The best prevention is comprehensive sex education & available, affordable, effective contraception. All pregnant women, especially teens, need good health care including all options for continuing the pregnancy or not.
