Infection?: With asthma there can be much mucus that is coughed up, but typically it is white or clear. If it is discolored, this is usually in the morning and it clears by late morning. Green phlegm could be suggestive of an infection that is also aggravating your asthma. If a person is using the rescue inhaler more than twice a week during the day, this suggests the asthma is not controlled.

Poor control: Theophylline isn't an appropriate control drug for persistent asthma and your symptoms indicate uncontrolled asthma. See your healthcare provider and explain your symptoms are not being controlled. There are guidelines that should be followed for the level of asthma activity that you have.
