See your Doctor.: This may be a bad cold, croup or worse yet whooping cough. With out more information i can't really say but the fact that she has to catch her breath is worrisome and indicates that she may need more than just supportive care. She may need oxygen and anti-inflammatory meds for her air way. The only way to know for sure is to have her seen, get a good history and exam. Good luck.

Pertussis screening: Please see your pediatrician, and inquire about a flu vaccination, flu and pertussis testing. Watch for any signs of distress, coloration changes, and poor feeding. Nasal saline, cool air mist and a children's cough syrup with honey may be helpful.
