Depends on situation: There are episodes where an encephalocoel located at the back of the neck has little effect on the child's later success if it is handled aggressively. However, most frontal defects are quite limiting. I would suggest you contact the geneticist at dell children's, dr immken, & discuss the findings. This is usually a sporadic defect unless associated with a chromosome defect.

Depends: So sorry to hear that. Whether to continue with pregnancy is a very personal decision. Encephaloceles can have varying prognosis depending on severity. You should probably consult at a university center that is experienced in dealing with significant fetal anomalies.
