Many: In the short term, a small amount of spotting and discharge are normal - as well as some degree of discomfort (pain) . In the long term there may be many benefits, but the primary side effect is that you will never have any uterine bleeding - which is good. It is difficult to answer this question without knowing why the vaginal hysterectomy is needed.
