Can too much alcohol cause depressed reflexes?

Yes!: Research have shown that acute alcohol intoxication results in diminished cognitive and psychomotor abilities. More importantly, this results in an increased number of alcohol-related accidents and deaths due to impaired performance of motor tasks such as tracking, and reaction time. Additionally, alcohol use tends to inhibit responses in go/no-go tasks, thereby complicating easier tasks.

YES: One of the reasons why drinking and driving is illegal is that alcohol in one's system slows down one's reaction time. If you have to suddenly slam on the brakes or veer away to avoid an accident, and you're travelling at 65 mph, you're going just over 95 feet per second. Imagine of your reaction is slowed by just one second; it could mean a person or persons could be killed.
