A member asked:

Will normal antibiotics (ie augmentin) work effectively on someone hiv positive with a low t cell count?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotics: The effectiveness of antibiotics depends on their activity against the bacteria involved. The antibiotics effectiveness does not depend on the individual's ability to ward off illness (immune competence). So, of the antibiotic being prescribed works against the causative agent, the HIV status shouldn't mean much.
