Strep: You could either have a case of strep that has become resistant to the typical antibiotics, meaning that the bacteria has found a way to "outwit" the antibiotic so it won't work any longer OR you may be what's called a "carrier" for strep, but your sore throat could be due to a different infection. I suggest you consider seeing an Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) specialist to manage further. Best wishes.

Does not seem right: If it is a Ttue GroupA Strep it should have cleared up first time.Did you take the full course 10 days both times Did you have throat culture done in the lab or quick strep test I have never seen failure with Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 500 mgm or 850 mgm twice a day for 10 days If the throat cul ure is still positive i will advice to see an ENT Specialist or take 10 Days course of Cephalosrorin like Cefzil

Get tested again: Have them run a culture. You probably need a different class of medication this time if it is positive (clindamycin or other 2nd line choice). Also consider getting tested for mono
